Relax, everyone’s brackets are wrecked. Dunk U. (FGCU) has won everyone’s heart, not Hart. Mike Hart and the Zags are out, much to the pleasure of Ben. The Mariners made a few moves and we are torn on whether they are good or not. Watch out of all the innuendos!
Other topics touched on:
- Hansen swoops another 7% on the Kings.
- Heat streak is stopped at 27.
- USA soccer win in the snow and “win” a point in Mexico.
LeBron is a Better Player Than Jordan
Posted: February 21, 2013 Filed under: NBA | Tags: best, Bulls, cavaliers, chicago, cleveland, ever, greatest, heat, james, jordan, lebron, miami, michael Leave a comment »People have been debating more and more who is a better player between LeBron James and Michael Jordan. The defining differences people always bring up are the championships and the willingness to take a shot at the end of a close game. Neither of these define whether a player is better than another. Otherwise we would be saying Robert “Big Shot Bob” Horry is better than both of them. He has as many championships as both of them combined and was always willing to drain a dagger three.
Another factor people forget comes into play is the fact that the popularity of the NBA grew leaps and bounds with Jordan. He was marketed like no other by all kinds of companies, such as, Nike and Gatorade. People were told through advertising that Michael Jordan was the greatest player of all time. LeBron hasn’t gotten the same advertising. There is a really good chance the popularity of Jordan will never be passed by Lebron. Again though, this doesn’t make him a better player.
Let’s start to break down why Lebron James is a superior basketball player to Michael Jordan. A lot of people like to bash LeBron having to go to the Miami Heat to be part of a super team to win a championship. This is just the way the league is now. Free Agency is way more of a factor nowadays than it was in Jordan’s era. Jordan didn’t exactly carry his teams to championships like people think. The year before Jordan retired for the first time, the Chicago Bulls went 57-25 and won the NBA Championship over the Phoenix Suns in six games. The year he was retired the Bulls went 55-27 and were one game away from the Eastern Conference Finals. Looking at LeBron with the Cleveland Cavaliers, his final season they were 61-21 and made it to the second round of the playoffs with their second best player being Mo Williams, not, top 50 Player of All-Time, Scottie Pippen. The next year the Cavs went 19-63, 18 games out of a playoff spot and 43 games out of their division lead. This just shows how much more talent LeBron has over Jordan. LeBron clearly has a bigger impact on the court as a player.
In overall stats LeBron has the upper-hand over Jordan, as well. I will say Jordan is a better scorer, but that is about all he has on LeBron. Jordan averaged 2.5 more points per 36 minutes than LeBron has. When it comes to assists and rebounds, LeBrons averages more than an assist per 36 minutes more and a half rebound more a game. LeBron has also been a better three-point shooter than Jordan over his career. Even being on a “super team”, LeBron is averaging more points, assists, rebounds, steals and has a better field goal percentage than any other player on the team. He is also has a better three-point shooting percentage than anyone on the team, a team that includes the best three-point shooter in NBA history, Ray Allen. I am pretty sure, Jordan never did that.
LeBron is just now coming into the prime of his career. His stats are only going to get better. Face it folks, we are witnessing the best basketball player since Oscar Robinson (LeBron vs. Oscar is a debate for another day). You can dislike LeBron because of “The Decision” , but you can’t argue how good he is. Move aside Jordan, LeBron is a better overall player than you.
Tim Tebow Fans: YOU MAD
Posted: January 15, 2013 Filed under: NFL | Tags: afc, broncos, denver, greg, jets, Lynch, Mad, Manning, marshawn, mcelroy, michael, moore, new york, Peyton, Playoffs, rahim, robinson, tebow, tim, You Leave a comment »After the Broncos lost on Saturday, there was chatter that Tim Tebow won a playoff game and Peyton Manning didn’t. First of all, these people must be talking about just with the Broncos, because Manning has won one or more playoff games in one postseason five times. Last time I checked, Tebow has one career playoff victory. I know there are a lot of Tebow supporters out there. Tebow is apparently a really good guy and a great role model for kids. These are great traits to have as a person, but neither wins football games. To be honest, I would rather have a guy that has some character flaws, but puts up stats.
Tebow’s great leadership and character have amassed him a career completion percentage of 47.9, 69.2 yards per game and 1.89 TD/INT ratio. Peyton Manning’s ability to be funny in commercials has amassed a completion percentage of 65.2, 265.6 yards per game and 2.09 TD/INT ratio. Those Tebow supporters like to point out the win against the Steelers in the first round as a mark of Tebow’s talent. Let me just point out a quick fact they like to look over; they lost 45-10 to the Patriots the next week. Manning’s first round game was against the couch and he was Rahim Moore deciding to actually make a play away from being in the AFC Championship game at home.
My suggestion to you Tebow supporters is to start rooting for your boy to go the Michael Robinson route. Robinson had a similar style of play as Tebow and now leads the way for one of the top running backs in the NFL, Marshawn Lynch. Tebow is athletic and can run. If he puts a little work in on his hands, he is more than capable of having a long NFL career. That career is going to be real short if he continues to play quarterback. He can’t even start over Greg McElroy. A clear indication of what NFL talent evaluators think of his skills. There isn’t a conspiracy against him in New York, he is just terrible at playing quarterback. Tebow fans quick making excuses for a guy who just doesn’t get it done at quarterback, it just shows America…
Philadelphia Eagles Fans: YOU MAD
Posted: November 21, 2012 Filed under: NFL | Tags: andy, coach, desean, eagles, fans, firing, jackson, jeremy, lesean, line, maclin, Mad, mccoy, michael, offensive, philadelphia, philly, reid, vick, You Leave a comment »There is a ton of chatter about getting Andy Reid the hell out of Philly. To me, it is kind of crazy to turn on a guy so fast. Just a quick recap of Reid’s coaching career before this season: 13 years (all with the Eagles), 126-81-1 in the regular season, seven division championships, one NFC Championship and only two losing seasons. Most fans would kill for those type of seasons. Don’t believe me? Go ask a Browns, Jaguars, Bills or a Dolphins fan. That person will gladly take the Eagles’ success.
This is a case of expectations being too high for a team who has legit problems at offensive line. A lot of times people forget how important the offensive line is. The Eagles have suffered multiple injuries to their original starting o-line, not to mention injuries to a couple of the backups. Philly fans, what can you realistically expect from a bunch of backup linemen? I get the Eagles have weapons on offense; Michael Vick, LeSean McCoy, DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin, but all their success is dependent on the offensive line being successful. McCoy can only break so many tackles in the backfield. Vick is under more pressure than any other quarterback in the league, yet you, Philly fans, expect him to be a top five quarterback.
Wanting to fire a coach who has produced your most successful years as a franchise, should get a little more love. Cut him some slack he is working with second tier players at the most important positions on the field. You fans are quick to turn on a man who has been very loyal to you and coached through personal tragedies. Most of you would take a lot of time off of work for the same situation.
Injuries are big part of the NFL, they can cripple a team. They have crippled your team, not the guy running your squad. At the end of the day, Andy Reid has an influence on the players, but he isn’t the one out their playing. Reid is calling the plays, you don’t get mad at him for missing the block, you get mad at the player that missed it. Bottom line is Philly fans….
